the month of September has been quite an interesting month writing vise. Not, because I wrote more than I did in the months before it, but because I finally regained motivation and inspiration to write at all. I spend the motivation to plot some things and, for the first time in forever, I made a schedule for writing.
An App has been really helpful in motivating me to keep going and reach my daily word counts on all of my projects, there are two I am currently writing on, and one I am currently trying to plot and researching for. Read more about them and how I started each project underneath the cut.
The first seed for this project was actually planted around ten years ago when I first started working on a story with supernatural elements. An Urban Fantasy so to say. Throughout the years the characters grew with me, sadly their story did not. This project is some kind of prequel to said first story. It is set in Victorian England and has darker elements attached to it. It was born when I decided to try my hand at a true Gothic Story, and somehow fight my own demons while the characters fight theirs. It is a really personal project.
In the app, I have set the goal to 75.000 words in the finished project with a deadline on the 21.09.2017. I started using the app on the 21st this year and I figured a year is more than enough time to finish such a project. Which means I need to write 189 words to finish on time, but I set the goal at 200 words, which is the minimum of what I am writing on my not so great writing days.
So far I have: I loosely plotted some parts of the book, there are still major holes within the main conflict that I do attempt to fill very soon. I wrote 7.238 words so far and if I keep up this speed I will finish by 14. Juli 2018, which is long past my deadline. So I do have to speed up, and finally hit that goal more than once a week!
The problems I have with this project: I like the overall idea, I love the characters I created, but because of the major plot holes I often find myself staring at the pages, unsure what I have to write next. I definitely need to do more research in order to capture the essence of the time period.
Project B - The Skye Boat Song
This story was inspired by the experiences of my father's great-aunt in World War 2 and more autobiographical elements of my own life. It combines the love stories of several women originating from the same family through letters, diaries, and written articles discovered by a young woman in 2016. And it is very dear to my heart.
In the app, I have set the goal to finish by 19.09.2019 with 75000 words and a daily writing goal of just 69 words. I allowed myself such a long period of time - three years - because B is a side project, something I work on to clear my mind.
So far I have 422 words (I only wrote for a day yet), some kind of an outline for the plot. If I keep up this rate I will finish by 23. August 2019, almost a month earlier than intended.
Project C - Saga
A historical fiction set in Iceland and Gotland during the Viking age. I first had the idea for this story during my vacation in Iceland earlier this month. It combines historical facts with fiction, lore, and of course some love.
I have not set any writing goals yet since this project is still in the plotting phase.
Additional Writing:
Besides my own stories, I am currently writing for two Tumblr blogs, one with drafts around 65+ and 5.362 posts. I strive to get the number of drafts down to 20 by the end of October.
The Schedule
I would like to get into a schedule where I have three projects at three different stages so I can quickly jump between them, depending on what I feel most like doing, and which needs to be done first. The first project would be in the Editing Phase, the Second in the Writing Phase, and the Third still in the Plotting Phase. I am still far from such a productive schedule, but I am trying my best.

What I intend to do throughout the month of October:
- I plan on getting my main Tumblr blog draftless by using a filled queue, so I can focus more on my original writing.
- Finally filling those Plot holes within Project A so I can hit that writing goal.
- Research the Victorian Era and WW1 for both A and B
- Research the Icelandic Settlement and Viking Travel for C
- Finish plotting C
How is your schedule? Do you organize your writing time in such a way, or do you do something entirely different? Tell me in the comments, so we can get a discussion started!
I intend to write for at least half an hour each day and then see what else I can get done after eight hours of work, Wish me luck.
Love what you do, promote what you love!
